Miraumont Communal Cemetery (Somme)

Miraumont is a village and commune in the Department of the Somme. It was occupied by British troops at the end of February, 1917, lost on the 25th March, 1918, and retaken by the 42nd (East Lancashire) Division on the following 24th August. It has been "adopted" with Colincamps & Courcelle, by the the town of Burnley.

The Communal Cemetery was largely used by German troops, and 26 soldiers from the United Kingdom (including 6 unidentified) and one sailor of the 63rd Division were buried in it by the enemy. 25 of the British graves are in a plot in the North-East corner, and the other 2 are near the North boundary. 4 French soldiers graves have been removed.
