Details
Luke Copse British Cemetery
is on the British front line of July 1916. It's name came from the plantations
(Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) situated behind this cemetery. It was
made by the V Corps (as V Corps Cemetery No. 19) in 1917, when the Ancre
battlefields were cleared. It contains the graves of 72 soldiers from
the United Kingdom (of whom 28 are unidentified), belonging to the 31st
and 3rd Divisions, who attacked the German line on the 1st July and
on the 13th November 1916.
